Medications & Injections for Pain Management
Managing Symptoms of Chronic Pain and Fatigue
Learn the basics of chronic fatigue and pain and then discover management techniques and lifestyle changes to stay in control of your life. Presented by Britta Hess, PT, DPT, and Michaela Taylor, PT, DPT.
When conservative treatments don’t help, we may suggest non-opioid medications or injections to help with your pain, including:
- Injections in the area around the spinal cord (epidural steroid injections)
- Injections in the joints between each vertebra of the spine (facet joint injections)
- Injections in lower back joints (sacral iliac joint injections)
- Injections in the back between the spine and spinal cord (transforaminal epidural injections)
- Nerve blocks
- Oral medications
Surgeries & Procedures for Pain Management
In some cases, surgery may be the best option for pain management. Your doctor may recommend:
- Intracept® procedure to help relieve chronic low back pain using minimally invasive and microwave ablation techniques.
- Minimally invasive lumbar decompression for spinal canal stenosis to remove bone or ligament, relieving pressure on spinal cord nerves in the lower back
- Nerve ablation and radiofrequency lesioning to target nerves, stopping them from sending pain signals to the brain
- Neuromodulation therapies, such as spinal cord stimulators to help relieve pain or improve function by changing how the nervous system works
