Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Sometimes, newborns need close monitoring for a short time. If your newborn requires extra care, they’ll get it at the North Kansas City Hospital Level II neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Our specially trained staff care for babies born as early as 28 weeks or who have short-term health needs.
We partner with Children’s Mercy Hospital, which means neonatologists are on-call, and neonatal nurse practitioners are on-site 24/7 to care for your baby.
NICU Amenities
Our NICU rooms offer:
- Access to lactation consultants
- Breast pumps with a setting for premature babies
- Fold-out sleeper chairs
- Low lighting and decreased noise levels
- Parent Care Unit (PCU) to help you learn how to care for your little one at home
- Private rooms and twin rooms
Caregiver Support
When your baby is in the NICU, it can add stress for you and your loved ones. So, we offer extra support. Ask your nurse for information about support groups and to connect you with a member of our Spiritual Care team.
