Financial Counseling for Cancer Care

Cancer is not only a devastating diagnosis, it’s also costly, even if you have insurance. In addition to diagnostic tests and treatments, which may include medications, surgery or radiation — or a combination of all three — you’ll likely have to miss work due to your treatments or side effects. That can lead to a loss of all or part of your salary.

For some people, managing the financial burden of cancer is nearly as stressful as managing the disease itself. At North Kansas City Hospital, we help ease the burden and serve all patients, including those who don’t have health insurance or those who can’t pay for all or part of the services they need.

What Sets Us Apart?

Our financial services teams are available to help you understand the billing and insurance process, apply for financial assistance if you qualify, and set up payment plans.

We’ll work with you to plan for your coverage and direct you to resources that may help. For example, because cancer often qualifies as a disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), you may qualify for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) if you aren’t able to work.
