Bioness
Specialized Rehab Equipment
North Kansas City Hospital now offers two rehabilitation devices that help patients in our Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit regain mobility and independence.
Proven Results
- 45% improvement in walking speed
- 60% improvement in hand movement over traditional therapy
Our Bioness® lower extremity and hand function systems help people living with:

Guided by physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians, occupational and physical therapists are trained to tailor the treatment to each patient, which:
- Prevents muscle loss
- Reeducates muscles
- Reduces muscle spasms
Lower Extremity System
- Fits below the knee
- Activates muscles to lift the foot to take a step
- Provides more natural walking, with increased speed and improved balance, including on carpet and steps
Hand Function System
- Fits to the patient’s forearm and wrist
- Improves hand range of motion
- Restores grasping, releasing, and opening and closing the hand
