It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month. If you're 40+, an annual mammogram should be at the top of your self-care list. Mammos are a must-have because when breast cancer is found early, the survival rate is nearly 100%.
Breast Self-Exams
Getting a mammogram once a year isn't enough. Regular (and by regular we mean monthly), breast self-exams help you get to know the normal look and feel of your breasts. We call this breast awareness, and it's important because it helps you know when something's different, like new breast lumps, so you can call your doctor right away.
Let us be clear, though. Breast self-exams don't take the place of your mammo.
