North Kansas City Hospital and Meritas Health value our relationship with our patient. We are providing this important update so patients are aware of our relationship with Aetna Medicare Advantage as a health insurance plan.
Effective October 1, 2024, North Kansas City Hospital and Meritas Health professionals can no longer provide care as an in-network provider with Aetna Medicare Advantage plans. If your health insurance plan is with Aetna Medicare Advantage, your healthcare services will be considered out of network beginning October 1, 2024 and may lead to higher out of pocket amounts when you receive care with us.
We have worked diligently for months to prevent this from occurring. We advocated for our patients to have full access to their Medicare benefits and regretfully we were not able to reach an agreement.
Change Your Plan
You can choose to return to the traditional Medicare program to continue access in-network with your healthcare provider. To disenroll from a Medicare Advantage plan and switch back to traditional Medicare, you should contact your Medicare Advantage plan provider, or you can call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227).
You can choose an alternate Medicare Advantage plan to continue access in-network with your healthcare provider. Medicare Advantage open enrollment begins October 15 and ends December 7. This enrollment period allows Medicare enrollees to choose which Medicare Advantage plan they wish to enroll in for the upcoming year. We hope you have been satisfied with your healthcare services, and that we can continue to serve your needs in the future. If you elect to continue your care with us, Aetna may require a disenrollment form.
