Your Pediatrician Appointments
Your visit with a pediatrician is designed to be easy and convenient for you. Help the visit go as smoothly as possible by reviewing the following details.
Please arrive to your first appointment 20 minutes early, so we can verify your information. For future appointments, arrive 15 minutes early. A parent or legal guardian must be with all children under 18 years of age. You’re required to provide written permission if someone other than a legal guardian needs to bring your child.
What to Bring to Your Appointment
To each pediatric visit, bring:
- All medications your child currently takes
- Any applicable copay or coinsurance amounts
- Your insurance card
Parking
You can park in the lot next to the Professional Building on the NKCH campus. Our pediatrician office is on the fifth floor.

Prescription Refills
There are a few ways you can request a prescription refill:
- At your appointment - Tell your doctor if you’ll need a refill before your next visit.
- From the patient portal - Log in to myhealth patient portal. Under My Medications, select Renew to request a refill.
- Through your pharmacy or mail-order service - Call your pharmacy or mail-order service for refills, and they will contact us for approval.
For any refills, be sure to request them several days before you run out of medication. We respond to refill requests during business hours, so it’s helpful to plan ahead.
After-Hours Calls & Emergencies
If you need care outside our regular office hours, call 816.234.3188 to connect with Children’s Mercy’s 24/7 Nurse Advice Line. Or dial 816.421.4115 to reach the on-call pediatrician.
Always call 911 in a medical emergency.
