Whether you head north, south, east or west, you can find paved trails and wooded hiking paths, each with their own hidden gems like waterfalls, caves and ruins. Before you head out, check the websites for each park’s COVID-19 response.

Cave Spring Trails (Jackson County): Wind your way through 4.5 miles of easy walking trails

Fleming Park (Jackson County): Take your pick of five trails located in Lake Jacomo, about 15 miles east of downtown KC

Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens: Five miles of paved and wood chip trails take you through the arboretum and gardens

Parkville Nature Sanctuary: A Northland favorite, the Parkville Nature Sanctuary features three different trails, including one that has an ADA-accessible trail spur

Swope Park: The country’s third largest park is 17 miles southeast of downtown KC; try the Swope Park Mountain Bike Trail or Fox Hollow Trail
