Difficulty Communicating

Talking about cancer with family or friends can be difficult. People with cancer may feel the need to hide feelings of fear, anger, guilt and frustration so they can continue caring for their family.

Others want to give support, love and care to a loved one going through treatment. Sometimes, though, they aren’t sure what to do or say. Open conversation and letting people share their thoughts and feelings are essential.

If talking with family and friends is too difficult, join a support group. Sharing personal feelings in a group of people who are going through a similar experience can bring comfort and provide a way to cope with the diagnosis.

Continue working and participating in normal daily activities as much as possible. It's important to keep connected to your support system and to keep your strength and sense of normalcy.
