The coronavirus may have shuttered the doors of your favorite gym, but that doesn’t mean you have to break up with your workout. A little creativity can help prevent the quarantine 15.

Sure, regular exercise keeps you physically and mentally fit, but it also keeps your immune system in disease-fighting mode, which is now more important than ever.

No Equipment? No Problem

You don’t need a Peloton®, treadmill, hand weights or any other fancy equipment to get a good home workout. Just use what nature gave you: your body. A 30-minute full-body workout that includes a warmup, cardio, strength and flexibility training, and a cool down is all it takes.

Create a routine around basic moves such as:

  • Burpees
  • Butt kicks
  • Crunches
  • Jumping jacks
  • Leg lifts
  • Planks
  • Pushups
  • Squats

If you’re just starting out, choose a few of these exercises, and aim for four sets of 8-16 repetitions, with a 30-second rest in between each set. If you’ve been working out for a while, bump your reps up to at least 20, with a 30-second rest.

Spice It Up

If a full-body workout isn’t your jam, or if you crave some variety, hop online. Google “exercise at home,” and you’ll find a never-ending list of options.

Of course, walking, jogging or running outside are always good options. Just keep practicing those social distancing skills.
