After living with incontinence for more than a year, Northland resident Rosalie Ray decided to do something about it. “I wanted a doctor north of the river so I would be close to home,” Rosalie says. Her gynecologist knew just the right physician: Ian Rosbrugh, MD, an OB-GYN with Meritas Health, who recently earned board certification in the subspecialty of urogynecology. He is the only urogynecologist in the Northland and one of only a few in Kansas City.

“Dr. Rosbrugh is very personable, and I felt comfortable talking with him about my health issues,” Rosalie says. “He addressed all of my questions and concerns.” Dr. Rosbrugh recommended a bladder lift, and after a minimally invasive procedure Rosalie was back to work at a local beauty salon in just a few days.

Approximately one-third of U.S. women will visit their doctor for pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence and pelvic pain. The symptoms can be painful and disruptive to a woman’s quality of life. “When a woman’s symptoms alter her daily living and affect her quality of life, it’s time to seek additional help,” says Dr. Rosbrugh. “There are so many different ways to approach each person’s unique issues. Fortunately, we can quite successfully manage the symptoms of pelvic organ prolapse and incontinence.”

Dr. Rosbrugh has performed urogynecologic procedures for more than 10 years, and he trained on numerous procedures throughout his residency and career. He is encouraged by the progress made in this field over the last decade. “I anticipate that with increased visibility and interest, research and treatment options will continue to break new ground.”

Take the first step toward conquering incontinence.
