Spring brings a fresh wave of activity: mopping, dusting, closet cleaning. The to-do list can seem endless. Tackle two tasks at the same time by combining cleaning with easy cardio. By the way, serious cleaning can burn up to 250 calories an hour.
- Pump up the jam. Blasting your favorite workout tunes while cleaning motivates you to move faster, meaning you burn through both calories and chores.
- Go big. Scrub the tub with large circles to tone your arm and shoulder muscles. Get great-looking glutes by doing lunges while vacuuming, just remember to use proper form to avoid injury.
- Add power. Add power moves between tasks to burn more calories. For example, do 10 squats for every bag of leaves you rake.
- Just beat it. Ditch the vacuum, and take your rugs outside and beat them with a broom for a full-body cardio workout.
- Suck it in. Tighten your abs while doing chores.
Of course, no one wants to clean the house every day for exercise. Take a break, and sign up for one of our classes or some personal training sessions. There’s something for everyone.
