North Kansas City Hospital has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report , opens new tabas performing significantly better than the national average for treating patients in two specialties: heart failure and knee replacement. NKCH is the only hospital in the Northland with high-performing ratings in these specialties.
The publication’s 2018-19 Best Hospitals report was released on Tuesday, and this is the second consecutive year NKCH has been named high performing in heart failure care.
A hospital’s score is based on multiple data categories, including patient experience, survival and volume. Hospitals received one of three ratings – high performing, average or below average – unless they treated an insufficient number of patients to be rated.
“Our Heart Care Clinic is the first of its kind in the Northland with an annual readmission rate lower than the national average, and we are a leader in expert knee replacement,” said Gary Carter, MD, North Kansas City Hospital chief medical officer. “This recognition from U.S. News & World Report is a reflection of the relentless dedication of our physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, nurse technicians, social workers, dietitians, pharmacists and case managers, who strive to provide superior quality care to our patients.”
