North Kansas City Hospital was recognized by Blue Cross Blue Shield as a Blue Distinction® Center+ for Spine Surgery. To earn the honor, NKCH demonstrated it consistently provides safe, cost-effective and efficient spinal surgery care. It was one of 307 medical centers nationwide and one of only five providers in Missouri to receive this designation.

Launched in 2006, the Blue Distinction Centers for Specialty Care program is a national designation awarded to medical facilities that have demonstrated expertise in quality specialty care. The program helps consumers make better informed healthcare decisions.

“Because back pain is a leading cause of disability worldwide, we’ve always understood the importance of giving patients access to safe and effective spinal surgery,” said Kerri Jenkins, senior vice president and chief operating officer. “This distinction reaffirms our commitment to quality spinal surgery.”

NKCH is also a Blue Distinction Center+ for Cardiac Care and Maternity Care.
