NKCH has teamed up with Gilda’s Club Kansas City to bring our cancer patients innovative cancer support programming. Since opening its signature red door in 2011, Gilda’s Club Kansas City has provided countless cancer patients, their families and their friends in the metro area with emotional and social support.
“It’s a match made in heaven because makes it much easier for cancer patients in the Northland to access the wonderful support programs Gilda’s Club is known for,” says Stephanie Boscarino, director of project and market development at NorthCare Hospice, one of our affiliates. Stephanie, a cancer survivor, was instrumental in establishing the partnership.
The Northland programs are funded by a grant from the Harvest Ball Society. Upcoming events include an in-depth look at the physical and mental effects of cancer treatment and the benefits of integrating meditation into everyday life. All programs, events, activities and memberships are free.
What’s in a name? Gilda’s Club is named in honor of comedian and Saturday Night Live cast member Gilda Radner, who died of ovarian cancer in 1989.
In addition to Gilda’s Club programs, we also provide support groups and classes in partnership with Turning Point: The Center for Hope and Healing.
