Starting your day with an upbeat attitude can have far-reaching benefits for your health and productivity. Being intentional with your time and how you start your morning sets the tone for the rest of the day. Here are five tips to help kickstart your day with positivity.

Get a good night’s sleep. One of the best ways to start your day is to ensure you are well-rested. Quality sleep has several health benefits, such as improved cardiac health, mental function and reduced stress levels. Healthy adults need at least seven hours of sleep per night.

Drink water. Your body loses water as you sleep and can lead to you feeling dehydrated when you wake up. As a result, you may feel dizzy, confused or foggy early in the day. Prioritize water in the morning to boost your energy levels, improve mental clarity, and support overall bodily functions throughout the day.

Exercise. Your brain produces a hormone called serotonin when we exercise. Serotonin makes your brain feel happy. By starting the morning with exercise, you are putting yourself in a better mood for the day.

Eat a healthy breakfast. Focus on a nutritious diet and choose healthy foods to provide the fuel you’ll need to stay energized and focused during the day. Not only will a healthy breakfast reduce the risk of developing heart disease, but it also regulates blood sugar levels and helps maintain a healthy weight.

Gratitude. Practicing gratitude combats negative thinking patterns and is an excellent way to start the day. Meditation, journaling and affirmation are good examples of meaningful ways to practice gratitude in the morning.

Work these five tips into your morning routine to start your day in a positive way, improve your health, boost productivity and increase your quality of life.
