Yoga for Kids in the Wellness Corner at Zona RosaBurning-off my preschooler’s energy has been a challenge during this rainy spring! We’ve been on the hunt for indoor activities all over the Northland, and I was excited to learn about kids’ classes at the new NKCH Wellness Corner at Zona Rosa.

Class Options

After reviewing the class options together, my 4-year old chose 123 Kids Yoga. We signed up for the Animal Yoga session – a free, four-week class on Saturday mornings. Neither of us was sure what to expect that first class, but we were game to try it.

On our first day, we found the NKCH Wellness Corner at Zona Rosa pretty easily. It’s on the same block as Dillard’s, across from KC Pet Project. There’s a large parking lot only three doors down. Once inside, we were warmly greeting by Jill, the on-site coordinator and Danielle, the yoga instructor.

Parents Too

Just a heads up, parents are encouraged to participate in the class with their kids. So, for the next half hour, my daughter and I did our best frog, dog, swan, tiger and other animal impressions. It was so much fun, and we couldn’t wait to go back!

So Many Benefits

Aside from being an activity that will burn some energy, there are other benefits to yoga for kids. Yoga can help ease stress caused by the pressures of school and activity-packed schedules. It can improve kids’ ability to focus. Physically, yoga can improve coordination, strength and flexibility.

A new session of 123 Kids Yoga starts on May 6. You can register your child for the free class at nkch.org.
