U.S. News & World Report ranks North Kansas City Hospital among its Best Hospitals for Maternity, with NKCH earning a “High Performing in Maternity Care (Uncomplicated Pregnancy)” rating. This highest U.S. News honor for 2022-2023 also places NKCH above the bar with only one other Missouri hospital.
U.S. News assessed nearly 650 hospitals that provide high-quality labor and delivery services for uncomplicated pregnancies. Fewer than 300 earned a High Performing designation.
“It is an honor to be recognized as one of the best maternity hospitals in the nation,” said Catherine Bonderer, senior director of Maternal Child Health at NKCH. “Our obstetrics, pediatrics and neonatal teams believe in the importance of family-centered care. We are dedicated to giving expectant mothers the safest experience possible, so they can focus on what is most important - welcoming their bundles of joy.”
The publication’s annual rankings are designed to assist expectant parents and doctors in making informed decisions about where quality perinatal and maternity care should be received.
U.S. News evaluated how well hospitals performed in 2020 in several aspects of care. The scorecard rated NKCH as excellent at minimizing avoidable C-sections, with unexpected newborn complications and early elective deliveries a rarity.
The Best Hospitals for Maternity methodology factors in data from a nationwide hospital survey conducted by U.S. News and from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
