U.S. News & World Report has named North Kansas City Hospital one of its 2023-24 Best Hospitals. The publication ranked NKCH third among hospitals in the Kansas City area for a fifth consecutive year.
“The continued recognition of our organization is a reflection of the dedicated work of our doctors, nurses and staff,” said Stephen Reintjes Sr., MD, president and CEO of NKCH and Meritas Health. “That we also earned the highest ratings in nine different specialties shows their unwavering commitment to provide exceptional care and a superb patient experience. With these achievements, our patients know they can rely on us for effective therapies and treatments for a range of common, rare and serious conditions.”
NKCH was rated High Performing in these adult procedures and conditions:
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
- Colon cancer surgery
- Diabetes
- Heart attack
- Heart failure
- Knee replacement
- Leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma
- Stroke
- Transcatheter aortic valve replacement
U.S. News has recognized NKCH numerous times in its Best Hospitals rankings. The health system’s heart failure program has been rated High Performing for seven consecutive years. Knee replacement and colon cancer surgery have received top honors for six and five years in a row, respectively.
Only 12% of more than 4,500 hospitals evaluated earned a Best Hospitals ranking. Honorees must demonstrate excellence in several areas, including clinical outcomes, nursing care and patient experience.
