North Kansas City Hospital announces it has received a $3 million legacy gift from the estate of Nancy Ruth Botham of Liberty, MO. This transformational gift is the largest in the organization’s 64-year history.
Botham had a great appreciation for the care she received at NKCH and Meritas Health throughout her lifetime, including lifesaving neurosurgery. She made the gift in honor of the physicians, nurses and staff who cared for her through the years. It was her wish to “pay it forward” for future patients.
“We are incredibly grateful to Ms. Botham for this extraordinary gift, which will have an impact on Northland patients and families for generations to come,” said NKCH and MH Chief Development Officer Courtney Johanning. “Ms. Botham’s memory will live on through the leading-edge care provided by our physicians and staff.”
In May, NKCH announced the establishment of its philanthropy program to help transform patient care. With this generous gift, NKCH will further advance its mission and support vital health system needs, including future growth to better serve patients and the community.
“This is an exciting moment for our organization,” said NKCH and MH President and CEO Stephen Reintjes Sr., MD. “The support we continue to receive from patients and community members, like Ms. Botham, is a testament to the exceptional care our team provides every day. The significance of this gift cannot be understated; we are honored to be a part of Ms. Botham’s legacy and thank her for investing in our future.”
