Missouri residents can now seek physical therapy without a healthcare provider’s referral. North Kansas City Hospital Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine physical therapists can help heal injuries, reduce pain and restore movement.
PTs consult with an approved healthcare provider after every 10 visits or 30 days, whichever comes first, before continuing therapy without a doctor’s order. Should they find something serious, PTs will refer patients to their primary care provider and will not proceed with treatment.
Missouri requires PTs have at least five years of experience to provide direct access services. Most insurance carriers cover direct access to PT. To schedule an appointment with a PT at one of NKCH’s three Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine locations, call 816.691.1795.
