The Northland community formed North Kansas City Hospital over 65 years ago. Although we’ve grown a lot since then, our commitment to meeting the needs of our community has never faltered.

We have offered support to the Northland in many ways. For nearly 50 years, we have supported the Northland Meals on Wheels (MOW) program. In 2017, we partnered with the Northland Shepherd’s Center (NSC) to continue supporting the program and benefiting thousands of seniors in the community.

Support Through Partnership

The NSC, a nonprofit agency, provides resources to improve the quality of life for older adults in Clay and Platte counties. It helps the aging population thrive in the community and stay in their homes.

With over 130 volunteers, the MOW program supplies affordable nutritious meals to homebound seniors who can’t provide proper nutrition for themselves due to age, illness or other disability. NKCH provides several staff members, including cooks and dieticians, along with the facilities to help this program run smoothly.

“We strive to make sure there are accessible healthy food options for our clients, and we couldn’t do it without North Kansas City Hospital,” said Todd Hess, NSC executive director.

Impact on Aging

Earlier this year, NSC honored our organization with the first Northland Shepherd’s Center Corporate Impact on Aging Services Award to recognize our support of the aging population. Since the start of our partnership, we’ve contributed more than $700,000 in meals for more than 200,000 homebound senior adults. With our support, we’ve helped the program grow, allowing thousands of seniors to keep their independence.

We are proud to partner with NSC to meet the health needs of the aging Northland population.
