If you’re a patient at NKCH or Meritas Health and enrolled in the myhealth patient portal, you can now see doctor notes in your online medical record. The access was added as part of the 21st Century Cures Act.
The 21st Century Cures Act gives patients more control over their healthcare and their medical record by providing easier access through smartphones, software and other technology. It also promotes making information about healthcare services, quality and costs easier to understand so people can make informed decisions.
“This is a positive for the physician-patient relationship,” said North Kansas City Hospital's Chief Medical Information Officer Todd Beardman, MD. "When a physician provides guidance to a patient, the patient can go back and read their doctor’s notes from the visit and take action."
