Requirements & Application
Residency candidates must:
- Hold a Pharm.D. degree from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education accredited school of pharmacy
- Have completed an ASHP-accredited PGY-1 pharmacy residency program or be in the ASHP accreditation process (e.g. Candidate Status)
- Be eligible for licensure in Missouri and Kansas
- Demonstrate collegiality, clinical knowledge, an interest in research and the motivation necessary for successful completion of residency training
- Complete interviews with the residency program director, senior director of pharmacy services, emergency medicine personnel and preceptors
Candidates must submit the following materials through PhORCAS by January 2:
- PhORCAS application, including a letter of intent
- Curriculum vitae
- Three letters of reference; at least two of the letters must be from your PGY-1 program; one letter may be from clinical faculty and/or a former employer; supplemental letters are not necessary; references only need to complete the PhORCAS reference form
- Required characteristics to be evaluated by your reference writer via the PhORCAS reference form:
- Assertiveness
- Ability to work with peers and communicate
- Ability to organize and manage time
- Independence and resourcefulness
- Emotional stability and maturity
PGY-2 Pharmacy Residency candidates selected for interviews will be contacted in January for scheduling. The interview day consists of interviews with pharmacy management and clinical preceptors. Candidates also work-up and present a clinical case (provided on the day of the interview).
