About Me

Biography

Dr. Ranes was born in rural Missouri and attended high school in Chillicothe.

He and his wife, Rozella, who is a family medicine physician at Meritas Health Gashland, have three children and reside in Parkville.

In his time away from work, he tries to spend as much time with his family as possible. They all enjoy golfing and rooting for Mizzou, the Chiefs and Royals.

Care Philosophy

"I feel it is my responsibility to provide all available information to my patients and explain the implications of that information in a way that the patient understands. Beyond this, I support my patients to make the best decisions for themselves based on their values and interests. I believe fully informed patients should be able to make whatever decisions for their healthcare as they see fit."

Area of Interest

In addition to his responsibilities as an intensivist and managing the care of ICU patients, Dr. Ranes practices general pulmonology and treats sleep apnea. Within general pulmonology, he specializes in the diagnosis and management of lung cancer, including offering specialized bronchoscopic procedures, navigational bronchoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), which are useful in the diagnosis of lung cancer.
