About Me
Biography
While an undergraduate student, a friend asked me to take an introduction to communication disorders class. I immediately liked the “hearing” part of the class, thus beginning my journey into audiology. I have worked primarily in ear, nose and throat physician offices during my career, and I enjoy the varied patient populations from infants to adults.
Outside the office, I enjoy reading, walking and college football.
Care Philosophy
The knowledge gained while working on a research study at the beginning of my career has been invaluable, allowing me to really listen to people and to think outside the box to come up with workable solutions for individual patients.
Area of Interest
I am interested in the diagnosis of hearing and balance disorders and amplification. Upon starting graduate school, I became a research assistant on a hearing aid study being conducted by a PhD audiologist in the hearing aid lab. While wholly unprepared for such a position at the start of my graduate studies, I soon developed a grasp of hearing aid use in the atypical hearing aid patient. The study looked at patients who were using hearing aids but finding limited benefits, though, on paper, their hearing losses and hearing aid fittings should have been straightforward.
