Micra Transcatheter Pacing SystemMicra

NKCH is the first hospital in the Northland to implant the Micra™, the world’s smallest pacemaker. The leadless device is placed directly into the heart. Patients typically return home within one day of the procedure and resume their normal activities within 48 hours.

Imaging

64-slice PET/CT Scanner

The PET/CT scanner combines two tests into one, capturing clearer, more precise images at a faster rate than either scan used alone. It saves patients time, increases their comfort level and provides faster results. The images help doctors diagnose certain types of cancer, brain conditions
and heart conditions.

Fast and Efficient Heart Care

When chest pain or a heart attack, opens new tab happens, seconds count. Our ability to respond quickly and efficiently to patients experiencing a cardiac emergency earned us two important heart care recognitions .

Our Chest Pain Center is the only one in the Northland to earn the American College of Cardiology’s highest level of accreditation for chest pain treatment. That means our response time in a cardiac emergency is faster than national recommendations.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services designated
NKCH as a Level I STEMI center. STEMI is a common name for
ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction, a serious heart attack caused
by a blockage in one of the heart’s main arteries.

NKCH is the only hospital in the Northland, and only one of three hospitals in the metro, to achieve Level I designation, the highest level awarded. It means we have the staff and technology needed to provide heart attack
patients with quick and responsive care that results in improved
survival and recovery rates.
