Medical Imaging, located at N. Oak Trafficway and 95th Street, is an outpatient extension of our Radiology Department at the hospital and is a convenient alternative for the Northland community.
Procedures
All exams performed at Medical Imaging are interpreted by a board-certified radiologist from Northland Radiology, Inc., the same group who oversees imaging services at North Kansas City Hospital.
- Automated Breast Ultrasound (ABUS) is a second step screening tool recommended for women with documented dense breast tissue
- Bone Density Testing (DEXA) – special X-rays that measure bone loss
- Computed Tomography (CT) – our machine emits 40 percent less radiation than other CT scanners, this machine produces 64-slices of reconstruction images. We offer self-referral CT Calcium Scoring exams ($50 self-pay test) and CT Lung screening exams with a physician order.
- X-ray System – includes digital radiography and can perform the full-range of diagnostic X-ray exams
- Mammography, including 3D
- MRI
- Ultrasound - one of the most up-to-date systems in today’s market. It can produce a full-range of vascular, abdominal and pelvic images. We offer self-referral Ultrasound Carotid Screening exams ($40 self-pay test) and Ultrasound Abdominal Aorta Screening exams with a physician order.
Helpful Patient Information
- Please arrive 15 minutes before the exam time
- Procedure results will be available at your referring physician’s office within 2-3 business days after your appointment. Most results are also available same day via the patient portal. Ask any staff member how to sign up for the patient portal.
- If you or your physician requests a copy of your exam, we need at least 24 hours notice. We require written consent of any adult patient to release any films (patient’s parents or legal guardians may pick up images without additional legal documents).
- Please turn off your cell phone before entering the exam areas.
- Children must be monitored at all times. To prevent unnecessary radiation exposure, only the patient and the technologist can be in the exam room during the actual procedure.
- Payment and insurance co-pays are due at the time of service. For your convenience, we accept cash, checks, MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express.
- Contact Medical Imaging for all children’s preparations.
- Mammograms: Wear items that are two-piece if possible. Do not use deodorants, powders, sprays, or ointments under the arms or on the breasts the morning of your exam. Please be aware of how your cycle affects the tenderness of your breasts and schedule your appointment when your breasts are the least tender. If you have mammography films from prior exams at other medical facilities, please bring them to your appointment or have them sent to us. Having your full medical history helps us serve you better.
- Ultrasound Pelvis/Obstetrical: Patient MUST drink four 8 oz. glasses of water (32 oz. total) one hour prior to the exam and retain the fluid until after the exam is performed.
- Ultrasound liver, gallbladder, pancreas and aorta: Nothing by mouth 6-8 hours before the exam.
