Our adult volunteer program is for men and women age 18 and older.
Adult Volunteer Opportunities
- Answer phones and direct patient information calls
- Assist families in waiting areas.
- Assist with day-to-day hospital functions
- Compile patient information packets
- Copying, filing and typing
- Deliver flowers and mail to patient rooms
- Guide and/or transport visitors
- Help with department-specific tasks

The Cuddle Program currently does not have any volunteer openings or a waiting list.

North Kansas City Hospital conducts background investigations on every volunteer.
Apply online to be a student volunteer at North Kansas City Hospital.
This application is for students in high school who are 16 or older and individuals in college. Volunteer opportunities are in various departments in the hospital including Pain Management, Cardiac Rehab, Central Services, Children’s Learning Center, Emergency Department, nursing units and other areas. Placement is based on availability, interest, and age.
Volunteer Requirements
- Submit completed application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
- Complete interview
- Attend orientation

North Kansas City Hospital Employee Health requirements:
- COVID-19 vaccine
- 2 current TB skin tests
- Provide proof of 2 doses varicella vaccine and 2 doses MMR vaccine or have bloodwork to check for titers
- Annual flu vaccine
Employee Health provides all health testing and vaccinations free of charge.
- Completion of a background check
- All students must be willing to serve 3 months.
Volunteer shifts are available every day and consist of 2-4 hour shifts for high school students and 4 hour shifts for college students. There are limited weekend opportunities for college students.

Spring 2025 - Applications due Sunday, January 5
- Information Night (Zoom): Thursday, January 16
- Orientation: Wednesday, January 22, or Thursday, January 30 (attend one)
- Program: Week of February 10 through week of April 20
Summer 2025 - Applications due Sunday, April 27
- Information Night (Zoom): Thursday, May 8
- Orientation: Wednesday, May 14, or Thursday, May 22 (attend one)
- Program: Week of June 2 through week of August 10
