Sarah J. Hinton, C.R.N.A.

Biography

I was born and raised in Kansas City, and spent my formative years in the Northland. As an ICU RN, I specialized in the care of Neuro-surgical patients for four years before entering graduate school and earning my Doctorate of Nursing Practice and becoming certified as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist in 2021. I have been providing safe and effective anesthesia for two and a half years at a nearby Level 1 trauma center, handling complex surgical cases and caring for acutely ill patients. Outside of work, I enjoy exploring various culinary offerings (I'm a foodie), learning about wine, reading, catching live jazz shows, and traveling.

Care Philosophy

I believe it is important to meet my patients where they are, in terms of understanding their health condition and the interventions to be performed. To me, this looks like open, transparent communication about said interventions; patient-driven goals that we work on together; managing and relating expectations for possible outcomes; and always respecting the level of trust that patients place in us, their healthcare providers. I believe that patient education is empowering and of utmost importance, just as listening to my patient's concerns is paramount.

Area of Interest

My interests include pain control related to surgery and/or labor, safe and effective general anesthesia, patient education.
