At the beginning of July, North Kansas City Hospital and Meritas Health reached 500 total Aquablation therapy cases. This is the fastest program in the United States to reach 500 cases and NKCH has done the most cases within a four-hour radius of Kansas City.

For nearly two years, NKCH and MH in partnership with Kansas City Urology Care has been one of the only health systems in Missouri and Kansas to offer Aquablation therapy to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). BPH, also known as enlarged prostate, impacts 50% of men over the age of 50 in the U.S., according to the National Institutes of Health.

"Aquablation is quickly becoming the standard for BPH relief," said Gerald Park, MD, a urologist with Kansas City Urology Care. "While medications relax and shrink the prostate, they can also cause other issues, such as low blood pressure and sexual side effects. Aquablation works better than medications without the long-term side effects and helps men regain control of their urine symptoms and their lives."
