February 25, 2025
For the third year, North Kansas City Hospital and Meritas Health appeared on Forbes’ list of America’s Best Midsize Employers. The NKCH and MH system is the only Kansas City-area healthcare provider on the list. It placed at No. 171 out of 489 companies nationwide. The complete list is available at Forbes.
“Being recognized as one of the best employers in the nation is a reflection of our goal to invest in our employees’ growth,” said Stephen Reintjes Sr., MD, president and CEO of NKCH and MH. “We strive to create an environment where our team feels valued and respected.”
NKCH’s culture extends beyond the workday and encourages employees to focus on mental well-being, educational opportunities and financial stability.
“We are incredibly honored and proud to receive this distinction for a third time,” said Dawn Bryant, vice president of NKCH Human Resources. “As a system with more than 4,700 employees and an average tenure of 15 years, we are so much more than a place of work. We are a place where people want to be.”
Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to build its 10th anniversary list of America’s Best Midsize Employers. Statista surveys approximately 217,000 workers employed by companies with 1,000-5,000 employees. Participants are asked to evaluate employers on compensation, work environment, training programs, advancement opportunities and if they would recommend their employer to others. The responses were compiled alongside additional survey data from the past three years, with a greater emphasis on the recent evaluations from current employees.
