The Mayo Clinic Care Network is a select group of independent healthcare providers, carefully vetted by Mayo Clinic and granted special access to Mayo’s knowledge, expertise and resources. NKCH’s membership in the network gives our providers access to Mayo’s latest research, diagnostic, and treatment resources whenever they feel it will benefit their patients. Additionally, collaboration with Mayo Clinic helps NKCH achieve its mission to increase access to excellent care. 

No. This agreement is not an acquisition or merger. Mayo Clinic Care Network members remain independent, community-based healthcare providers.

No. When NKCH providers want clinical advice, or have questions about complex patient care, they can quickly connect with Mayo Clinic specialists and consult directly with them.

With the ability to access Mayo Clinic’s research, diagnostic and treatment resources, we will be able treat more patients close to home, at no additional cost to the patient. Anytime we want to discuss a treatment plan or request a second opinion, we can consult directly with Mayo Clinic’s specialists. This way, we can combine our understanding of our patients’ unique medical needs with Mayo Clinic’s resources to develop the best treatment plan for them. 

NKCH providers work with Mayo Clinic specialists to share their medical expertise so that more patients can receive their care close to home, from their trusted local provider. There is no obligation to refer patients to Mayo Clinic. However, if a patient needs care that is not available close to home, a referral to Mayo Clinic can provide seamless care for the patient with the goal of returning home for follow-up care from their NKCH provider. 

No. Interactions are between the NKCH and Mayo Clinic doctor. Mayo Clinic does not see or contact our patient through these services.

No. When providers consult with Mayo Clinic about a patient’s care, there is no additional cost to the patient.

Of course, it’s up to the provider, however if a patient is experiencing anxiety and would like to have a second opinion, an eConsult keeps the patient care local. It is a way to afford the patient peace of mind, at no additional cost to them, and help them avoid unnecessary travel and inconvenience.
