Expanding to Meet the Growing Need
Our Interventional Radiology team performs more than 4,800 procedures each year, many of them urgent and NKCH is the only hospital in the Northland offering complex IR procedures. With IR cases doubling over the last year and with increasing referrals, we need to expand the program to meet the needs of our patients and save more lives.
What Is Interventional Radiology?
Interventional Radiology at North Kansas City Hospital collaborates with nearly every department of the health system. IR uses medical imaging to guide minimally invasive procedures that diagnose, treat, and cure conditions, such as pulmonary embolisms, deep vein thrombosis, vascular and oncology interventions, and urinary disorders, among others.
Donate NowIR Expansion Project Scope
To meet the increasing demand and provide optimal patient care, we must invest in the following areas:
- Relocation and expansion of dedicated IR space to allow for:
- more procedures
- meet the highest standards of care
- enhance the patient experience
- New patient check-in, pre-op and post-op recovery areas
- Adding additional IR specialists
- Advanced imaging technology including:
- Additional single-plane imaging
- Intravenous ultrasound machine
- Radiology/fluoroscopy room
- Ablation system
- Patient tracking system
We Need Your Help
The expansion is a $17M project that includes purchasing the new technology and building out the necessary space for the expanded IR program. We aim to secure $5.5M in philanthropic support with hospital operations covering the remainder. An investment in this project is an investment in the Northland and surrounding communities who will no longer need to travel outside their community to receive the care they need. Donate today to make an impact and help bring world-class technology to the Northland.
