Scott Chapman, MD, FACC
Scott Chapman, MD, FACC, and Gregory Horwitz, MD, have been named North Kansas City Hospital’s Department of Medicine chairman and Department of Surgery chairman, respectively. Their two-year terms were effective July 1.
In 2005, Dr. Chapman, a cardiologist with Meritas Health Cardiology, joined the NKCH medical staff. He also has served Excelsior Springs and Ray County Memorial hospitals since 2010 and 2009, respectively. In addition to his previous role as chair of NKCH’s Medical Records Committee, Dr. Chapman has been a member of the Cardiovascular Subcommittee, Medicine Advisory Committee and Medical Executive Committee.
Dr. Chapman earned his medical degree in 1998 from the University of Nebraska, where he completed his internal medicine residency in 2001, cardiology fellowship in 2004 and electrophysiology fellowship in 2005.
A fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Dr. Chapman is board certified in cardiovascular disease and electrophysiology.
Dr. Horwitz, a urologist with Kansas City Urology Care, joined the medical staff in 2008 and has served the health system in various capacities, including as chair of the Department of Surgery and Advanced Practice Professionals Committee. He also has been a member of the Infection Control, Medical Executive and Surgery Advisory committees and the Emergency Department Subcommittee.
Dr. Horwitz earned his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1999 and completed his general surgery internship and urology residency at the University of Kansas in 2004 and 2008, respectively. He is board certified in urology.
