Dr. Boerkircher, a cardiologist with Meritas Health Cardiology, led a 3-mile Walk & Talk in the Woods in June to give community members the opportunity to pose questions about cardiac concerns.

Dr. Gemmell, a family physician with Meritas Health Briarcliff, was featured in the May Fox 4 Live Healthy segment. She discussed tick prevention.
Brian M. Matthys, DO
Dr. Matthys, a dermatologist with Sunflower Dermatology and Day Spa, was featured in the June Fox 4 Live Healthy segment. He discussed skin can cancer prevention in men as part of the station’s Men’s Health Month coverage.
Stephen L. Reintjes Jr., MD
Dr. Reintjes Jr., a neurosurgeon with Meritas Health Neurosurgery, presented “Get Your Back on Track” during an NKCH Lunch & Learn in June. He talked about chronic back pain, including its causes, nonoperative measures, surgical preparation and minimally invasive surgery. He and Kristen Evans, PT, DPT, also discussed our Move Plus physical therapy clinic.

Dr. Shorten, a neurologist with Meritas Health Neurology, was featured in several May Fox 4 sleep awareness segments. He discussed several sleep issues, including the number of recommended hours, health risks related to lack of sleep, techniques for getting a good night’s rest and how sleep studies can accurately diagnose at disorders.
