North Kansas City Hospital and Meritas Health was named on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals 2024. This honor is awarded to 404 hospitals in the United States that provide high-quality maternity care from pregnancy and birth to postpartum care. Statista, a data and business intelligence portal, compiles the list based on a nationwide online survey of hospital managers and medical professionals and public data from hospital surveys.
“It is great to see our hard-working maternity team receive this recognition,” said Stephen Reintjes Sr., MD, president and CEO of North Kansas City Hospital and Meritas Health. “These obstetricians, nurses, perinatology specialists and neonatology experts play a crucial role in providing comprehensive care for newborns and their families.”
This is the third year Newsweek compiled this list. Hospitals are divided into two performance categories: five-ribbon and four-ribbon hospitals, each based on reputation, patient experience and quality metrics scores. NKCH received a four-ribbon designation in 2024 and 2022. In 2023 and 2024, NKCH and Meritas Health were named to U.S. News and World Report’s Best Hospitals for Maternity Care list. In 2024, The Joint Commission awarded NKCH with their Gold Seal of Approval® for Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care.
“We understand that every birthing experience is unique,” said Catherine Bonderer, MSN, MBA, RNC-OB, senior director of Maternal Child Health. “This is why we offer cutting-edge pain management techniques, spacious birthing suite amenities and individualized care.”
